Behind The Love Cafe AfterDark is a woman who has lived through enough life to understand that love is more than a feeling—it is something we give, something we receive, and something we choose to share with others. Hershey is a proud Fort Worth, Texas native and the daughter of the late Ruby Matthew. A graduate of Trimble Tech High School, she went on to earn three degrees, including an Associate of Applied Science, a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s in General Studies. She is also a United States Army disabled veteran, a community servant, a co-owner of Beta Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc., and someone who has spent time supporting and counseling young adults and teens through some of their most difficult moments. But beyond the degrees, accomplishments, and titles is a woman whose greatest treasures are her family, her children, her grandchildren, and the opportunity to make someone’s life a little brighter.

Hershey’s journey into radio is deeply personal. She was introduced to radio through the late Cassandra “Jazzy” Stephens, a woman who left behind a legacy built on her love for music, people, and connection. Before her passing, Jazzy expressed her desire for Hershey  to carry that legacy forward. Accepting that responsibility did not happen overnight. Hershey needed time to understand what it meant, to find her own peace with it, and to realize that perhaps this was more than simply stepping behind a microphone—it was an opportunity to continue something meaningful. Today, The Love Cafe AfterDark is her way of honoring Jazzy while creating something that is uniquely her own.

For Hershey, The Love Cafe AfterDark is about more than slow music and late-night conversations. It is a place where hearts can breathe, memories can surface, people can laugh, and sometimes, people can simply feel less alone. Her hope is to use her voice, her experiences, and the power of music to remind people that love still exists—in our families, our friendships, our communities, and within ourselves. Her goal at this stage of her life is beautifully simple: to be happy, to spread love, and to leave people feeling better than she found them. Through every song, every conversation, and every moment shared on The Love Cafe AfterDark, Hershey is carrying forward a legacy—not by trying to be Jazzy, but by allowing the love Jazzy left behind to continue moving through her.
