Elder Tyrone L. Smith is the 7th child, 3rd son, of 9 children born to the late Pastor Clarence R. Smith, Sr. and First Lady Shirley T. Smith of Birmingham, Ala. Elder Smith has been married for 32 years to Freda V. Smith. To this union, God has blessed them with one daughter Taylor Christian. The call of God was evident on Elder Smith since childhood. At the age of nine years old, he confessed the call of God to preach. His father, Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Birmingham, Al licensed him to preach on Mother’s Day: May 8, 1988. In 1996, he was ordained as an Elder of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship by Bishop James H. Morton, New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church Decatur, Ga. While at New Beginning Elder Smith served faithfully for years as a part of the ministerial department, praise team (Consecration), and ministerial liaison for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Conference, New Orleans, LA. While residing in Atlanta, Elder Smith sang throughout the south and east coast as a part of The Atlanta Chapter GMWA and also served as Director of the Evangelistic Board. He was also a member of Georgia Mass Choir, Dirk Chaney and The Chosen Aggregation (serving also as Art Director and board member), Golden Tone Gospel Singers, church choirs, and was a psalmist. Elder Smith recorded and sang background for artists such as Douglas Miller, James Moore, LaShun Pace, Kirk Franklin, James Bignon, and Darryl Coley. Upon relocating to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Elder Smith joined the Potter’s House under the leadership of Bishop T. D. Jakes and attended for 15 years. He served faithfully as a part of the Ministerial Department and Director of The Balm: HIV/AIDS Ministry. Under his leadership, this ministry broke down many barriers and prejudices by offering free testing and counseling at The Potter’s House while fostering strong relationships with community AIDS organizations. He was a member of Josiah (praise team) and served as a part of the T. D. Jakes Ministries conference team with Aaron’s Army Partners and Potter’s House International Pastoral Alliance. He was committed to traveling throughout the US and serving the man of God, spreading the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. Elder Smith founded Temple Ministries in 2006, a ministry of Mountain Movers International, Inc., to further his work in educating the church community about HIV/AIDS. He also founded the I am a BELIEVER Movement for the purpose of encouraging, educating, and equipping believers for evangelism. Elder Smith also hosted an internet radio talk show on FishBowl Radio Network called The MIX with Tyi from 2011-2017 winning Male Host of the Year in 2014. In October 2014, he joined The Inspiring Temple of Praise Church under the leadership of Bishop Reginald D. Jordan, Senior Pastor. He was ordained Pastor of Marriage Activities in October 2015. He serves on the Council of Elders and the ministerial staff. Elder Tyrone Smith is a gifted preacher, teacher, psalmist, artist, and writer that uses all of his gifts for the glory of God.
